Ursula, so far, mine is hanging in there, but I've only had it for 4 years. I have heard that they are short lived, so have some cuttings started. Sorry to use the Americanized name, but I can never remember how to spell Deutsche, without looking it up. Whistling

MJ, I first saw iochroma on a "Behind the Scenes" MG tour of Busch Gardens in Tampa. I bought various colors on line and the purple did the best by far. The only problem I have is they tend to get too big and I have to trim them back. They take full sun to part shade and have not been bothered by the heat or a light freeze or insects or fungus.

I have been wanting to try iochroma too. Maybe if it works for me I can break my brugmansia habit! They are such terrible insect magnets. On the other hand they may be helping keep the bugs off the orchids.

One more Epi I took last night. I am probably going to loose some orchids. No way I can get the shade cloth to stay put right now. Crying

That is mom in the pic. She's recovering well but struggling with the lack of sleep. Don't we all.

Mj, it's up there, anchored with bricks, but the wind is just as bad today so I don't know how long it will stay put. It's going to be a busy day.... Shrug!

I can't compete with the baby but the jacaranda is putting on quite a show around here. The first picture is a look out the front door with gardenias, the jacaranda and the Canary Island palm in view. Also note the mess on the driveway.

Well, I'd put up with the mess to have that. Was that tree there when you moved there or did you plant it ?
