The deeper pink of the landscape rose pulls out the highlights of the pink edging of the foreground rose. The spiked leaves of the iris contrast well with what looks like more of a fern or at least narrow leaf plant in the far back. A large bed with this combination would be awe inspiring. Maybe that is what you already have - cannot tell by this particular picture. Thanks for sharing!! Inspires me to plant some new rose beds this year with a combination like this.

Thank you.

While I do appreciate the compliment it was a planting of desperation. I had to get the two Rainbow Knockout roses planted since my husband was lured into buying them by phone and thought he had done something wonderful. He's too good to disappoint but they may get moved this year. I gave the KO a very serious pruning last spring and it did bounce back very well.

My best plant combinations seem to be accidents. Keeps us gardeners humble, I guess.

You are so right. I love 99% of the accidents but not 99% of the ones I thought would be perfect matches. Either something fails to grow or grows much too tall or just is the right plant in the wrong spot.

Just look how this lovely iris looks silly by the roses. If I had a dozen of the same irises it may have worked but the one lonely corm that remained decided to grow and I wasn't about to move it.
