They're in the "chicken" phase and out of the dinosaur phase! Right now, my 1st set of silkies are in the dinosaur phase.. they're so ugly! I need to take pix of them.. when I get home tonight, I think that the 2 white rocks are gonna go outside.
These are my little Bantams, we have a total of six and I can't wait to see them grow up and fluff out! I've always wanted Bantams and when I had the opportunity to get them, I didn't hesitate. I hear they are great egg layers and plus they are beautiful when they get older!
Well I called and they have no idea but mine do have feathers on their legs and feet haha seems like Orchelns isn't big on breed other than Bantam. I guess I will find out! What did you think of them? Is there anything I should watch out for? Good, Bad?

With feather legs they may be cochins or silkies. Show us a picture as they grow. One thing to watch for with chicks is a pasty bottom. Clean it off for a few days and they will adjust and the problem will end. Go to google for more info. There is nothing cuter than new chicks and then for a period of time they will go through an ugly stage and then get nicer as they mature

I put the two white rocks outside.. they weren't too keen on it, but they need to get used to being outside now. I've got the four older silkies now in the bunny hutch upstairs out of from under the lamp.. they weren't sleeping under the lamp any more, so I knew they were ready to go that way. They'll be in the bunny hutch for probably 2 weeks, then outside they go. Don't know when the next swap is going to be.. there's usually one a month, otherwise I have to wait until May 10th, which is gonna suck 'cuz I've got major plans that day.

Well, white rocks survived the night.. first time they were outside. It wasn't too terribly cold, I don't think it got below freezing last night. I'll watch them tomorrow as tomorrow's supposed to be cold. But there's a TON of straw/hay in their hutch.
Here's the White Rocks.
And the 1st set of silkies. They're in a bunny hutch inside the house. Nike (cat) had to get into the action.. trust me, no cats or chickens were harmed. The chicks are still in the dinosaur phase.

Actually, Nike's a little.. well, he's retarded. He's sweet as hell, gorgeous to beat the band, but he didn't luck out in the brains dept. Here's a imgur folder on him growing up with me. http://imgur.com/a/Z4a3A And he's met the chicks before.. I make sure that all the cats know that chickens are CatTV, not catsnacks.

I sold the white Plymouth rocks for $20/ea.. Then bought 5 more white rock chicks for $20. However I think they're not white rocks but Cornish hybrids. oh well. I did pick up my 6 white Orpingtons.. They're so cute cuz they're yellow & blue! I'll have to get pix. My 4 buff Orpingtons are getting out of the dinosaur phase and are lol'ing like little chickens now.
