I have a plummie question. If I have a variegated plummie that is grafted, can I removed the grafted branch and root it like a normal plummie. Will it continue to grow variegated?

Jan, your plant has a host and a scion. The host (the part that has the roots) is a no name plumeria. The scion (the top part that has the variegated leaf) can be separated and rooted, sure, and it will always be what it is: a variegated plumeria. I'm just curious why you want to do this?

Just because the base is crooked & ugly.

There is a good case for burying the plant up to the graft. This will not hurt it.
You now have a strong established root system, and re-rooting it will set that back a good bit. Your call, but if it was mine and I really hated the base I would bury it.
Just remember, when it is a big tree nobody will notice that crooked base.

I'll bury it and see what it looks like.

It's a fair piece you would have to bury. How about you bury it two inches deeper each year until you have it up to the graft?
Personally, there isn't anything wrong with the base in my eyes, though.

Is the cracking normal? Can the variegated plummies handle the full sun. Up until now, I have had it in my shade tent with other shade plants because I don't have alot of shade during the day.

The cracking is normal, you will see that the older trees all display this.
Variegated plumeria should be able to handle full sun although I would surely acclimatize them gently, like maybe give them just morning sun at first.

Sounds good. Since it is still potted, it will be easy to move it around to adjust. So eventually, I can bury the whole graft?

My Muang Jack, a graft, is finally blooming. Purple is my favorite color, so I was really excited when I saw it had 3 inflows. Soon as I dump the camera I'll post a picture....to me it's more mauve then PURPLE purple. No matter, I love it

True as with anything on Ebay. Always check their feedback. I was just looking at Florida Colors website and didn't see any variegated but they don't have them in a separate category that I could see, so I guess you have to try to view each one to see the leaves.

You have to call them, they don't list everything they have.... it's a true 'Mom and Pop' store and they don't have time to update their site a lot.
