Yay, borage, for #1 spot! I was quite surprised that the homely dandelion made the top picks. I'm likewise amazed when I see their seeds for sale - is there anywhere this does not just pop up on its own? Not to be a lavender snob, but glad to see it didn't get #1 spot (lovely plant but really I get a bit weary of all the hype). Really nice photo of the field poppy @bonitin. No basil? I was surprised, in a good way, of the results.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

I saw this and fully expected Basil to be the number one plant. Not only not #1, not even on the list!

I definitely would have expected basil, but it isn't photographed or commented on much in our database, for some reason!

I agree with the lavender. I just have to give up on it. If it lasts 2-3 years , I am lucky.
I wondered about basil too. If there was a smell feature, I am sure it would move up to the top of the list!

Everyone grows Basil, or at least it is a extremely common herb. And like all things that 'Everyone' grows it is unassuming, and 'boring'. Not to say I don't like Basil, I do, Tomatoes just don't taste the same without it; but Basil is a easy and 'Safe' choice to grow. Humans like things to be interesting. Borage is different, edible, pretty, and not hard to grow. Sounds like a good candidate for gardeners looking for something 'New' to grow.

I did. I was putting my thoughts on the comments down in words though. Nailing down what I meant to say is not one of my better skills. I prescribe more practice.
