I am also of the opinion that if you just want a few rocks, three is better than two, and bigger is better than small --for a lawn feature.
If it was really up to me, though--I'd take that whole pile and find some more, and turn that whole area into a rock garden
but I'm a freak like that
My most favorite rock garden I ever had was a pitiful-grass eradication project on a shady hill where the grass wouldn't grow anyway
in a place where nobody had rock gardens. All the neighbors thought I was crazy at first, but everyone raved about it in the end.
Where I live now, boulder retaining walls are everywhere as well as the odd, large rock plunked randomly here and there, plus all manner and variation of rock gardens, so I haven't raised too many eyebrows with my escapades here.
I'm not sure what your hesitation is...?
Big rocks are difficult and/or expensive to move if you don't end up liking them, but not impossible.
