This is our newest hummer feeder.

I recycled an empty gin bottle and gave it to the hummers. The "flower" is a piece of copper water pipe that I heated with a torch and pounded into a thin flat sheet. Then I rolled it to look something like a flower and attached it to a piece of copper tubing. I bought a rubber stopper and drilled a hole in it for the copper tubing. Then I took a length of copper wire and wrapped it around the bottle to create a harness that I could use to attach a hook to for hanging it. A little paint on the flower and wah lah...my hummer feeder.

The hummers are lovin' it!

edited because I have no idea what cooper tubing is...it should be copper tubing.

Love it.
The reason most people fail instead of succeed is because they give up what they want most for what they want at the moment.

Thank you! That was a fun little project that gave me an escape from the big projects. Now I want to make another one!

That turned out great! I have some that I bought with the tube like that, but they always leak/drain right away. Looks like you have the answer with the tilted postioning. Gonna have to try that Thumbs up

Thanks Barb!
I have another one that I made out of a wine bottle and it hangs straight up and down. It leaks out by the next day. I need to redo the hanger so it tilts like this one.

I have some that I've made as well, and I have to bend the feeder tubes (they are plastic) up a bit more than the way they came. But I also like the way that you've hung yours... may have to adapt mine!

Who says the bottles will be filled with liquid for the hummingbirds? ;-)
Now how funny would that be to have a bunch of these hanging in the yard full of the real thing?

Don't even think about it .... as a teen I put vodka in the dish water of a wild, though frequent visitor Black Bird. He croaked.

Ray,

Would a person have to master the art of hovering before feeding or do you just lay on the ground and let it drip into your mouth? :o)
