Thread OP

I recently purchased a Sempervivum Tederheid plant, and seemingly overnight, it has sprouted a long tall stalk out of the middle. (similar to the plants on the left side of the picture to the left of the Mamajack's CoOp picture. Can anyone give me some insight as to care for this? Should I be trimming it back and replanting the taller portion? I can't seem to find a good answer anywhere online, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Best,
Lindsay

Hi Lindsay. Can you post a photo for us? It sounds like it is going to bloom. Does the plant have any offsets (chicks)? Once a rosette blooms it will die, but hopefully it has some offsets to carry on for you.
We have been conducting experiments on delaying blooming to get offsets so we don't loose the plant entirely. Some times it works, some times it doesn't.

Here is a link to what we have been doing with varying results. http://cubits.org/sedumandsemp...

Hope this helps. Please feel free to post a photo over in the link so we can follow what is going on with your Tederheid. : )
