Just arrived in the mail. They are offering 15% off bare root Canadian orders and I may order some. What a fantastic handbook/catalog. Awesome pictures & info

Missed this thread! So have you decided which ones to order?
Here's their new intros page http://www.davidaustinroses.co...
I would still love to try some of the older ones like Munstead Wood and Lady of Shalott. I don't do pinks but that new 'The Albrighton Rambler' sounds good! I have several apricot/yellow/orange roses and that 'Carolyn Knight' looks yummy, it's a sport of 'Summer Song' which I love (and used as a name for my Etsy store)

This new intro page is a real surprise for me. I used to buy so many Austin roses, but it looks like 2008 was the last time I bought all of the new introductions. The only new one I've bought since then is The Wedgwood Rose. After a while, all of the new ones have just looked like repetitions of older ones I already have. If I saw Lady of Shalott and Boscobel locally, I might buy them, but I wouldn't go to any trouble to order them now that Palatine doesn't carry Austins.

I haven't bought any roses for quite awhile having settled for my tried and true varieties but love English roses
and still grow a handful of them.
I'm kind of out of the loop and haven't heard much feed back on any of the new varieties.
Any recommendations for some of the newer varieties that are doing well in Zone 5?

Also are the roses from David Austin website virus free? Do you know what rootstock they use?

Hilarious! Great minds think alike. Sue, my top 2 choices are Munstead Wood and Lady of Shalott. Out of the New collection, my choice is Heathcliff and Boscobel looks interesting with the color changing bloom. Boscobel is featured on the cover of the handbook.

I have never ordered from them before. Recommended or not?

I've never ordered from them because it's so expensive. I'd rather buy my Austins from Regan Nursery or any local nursery.

Thanks. I will look for some other suppliers and compare the prices. They are expensive!!

Vicky, I haven't heard anything about the newer ones either but usually check HMF for comments for anything I am interested in.

I did buy Boscobel and Lady of Shalott. I love the orange pink blend on Lady of Shalott. It has grown well in Kansas for the last 2 summers, through the terrible heat and drought.
I've ordered from David Austin several times and have received good sized healthy plants every time.
The catalog has a code for "buy four, get a 5th free" this year. I'll see if I can find that code.
The Austin roses are pricier than any others no matter where you shop. Shipping is pretty high from DA, so I try to buy local, but I'm finding fewer and fewer nurseries that carry them.

Ok, mystery solved. I couldn't figure out why the new intros (from the link above) were not in my catalog this year. Turns out, those are the new intros for the UK, and they get everything a year or so before we do here in the U.S.
Now I know what I'll be looking for NEXT year!
I'm all ears!

I hate it when I go on the UK site by mistake. I always get excited because they carry Austins that haven't been available anywhere here for the last 10 years, such as Cressida and English Elegance. Then I notice that I'm not on the U.S. site and have to go back to look at its limited offerings.

Ahh, didn't even catch that my link was in the UK. But at least it's fun to see what the new roses are and we may eventually get them here.
