I recently planted a Desert Gold peach tree. Any suggestion on fertilizing and watering?

Hi DM,

I have a drawf peach tree already which bloomed and now bearing the beginnings of fruit. It's my first peach tree, so I don't have any experience to mention. However, I did give it a fairly large fertilizer stake earlier in the season. I plan on staking it every year. Oh, and I water my container every other day. I'm sure once the temps increase, it will need water daily.

Hope that helps in some way.

We just planted 7 bare root, low chill fruit trees in January....one is peach and supposed to be self fertile. We used our own compost when we planted and they are all growing well. Did not expect any blooms his year, but to our surprise we have a few tiny peaches acnd even have nectarines on those 2 trees. I am thinking the compost must have been ok. Due to our warm temps and the winds we have had, we are watering 2-3 times a week.

Best wishes on your new tree, DM.

Gina, how large is your container? We planted ours in the ground.

Hi Mary,

Here's some photos of my one drawf peach. I have no idea what type of peach.

My daughter-in-law purchased it last year and planted it in the container. She gave it to me in the hopes I could save it. I think it's still quite young. I feel confident the container is large enough for this season, but it'll go into the ground once it goes dormant. She and my son had their first child (my second grandchild) this past November, so this is Arya's peach tree and quite special to me. Hurray!

I've got a question for those in Peachland,

This fall I'm planning on putting my drawf peach tree in the ground. I have a space that about 8x8 and was thinking about adding my rosemary and sage bush to the same area. Anyone out there know if these herbs are okay to plant next to a peach tree?

Thank you for any advise!!
