Nice Dan - good call on not putting the DE in the soil. I hear it is harmfull to our worm friends.

Gee I hope it works! Keeps out the crickets? Seems they can get in anywhere they want. I'm looking forward to pics of a very lush, productive garden. Nice work!

Hello Brenda!

We haven't heard to much from you lately so it's always a pleasure when you do check in. Smiling

The garden is looking real good right now. My protective contraption has worked better than expected and everthing inside is flourishing. I just finished thinning the seedlings and tomorrow morning I'll spray everything with a little seaweed fertilizer.

How are things in Dolores?

Things are great in Dolores, Dan. We have had the most amazing and beautiful Indian Summer/Autumn! It has been in the 70's for the past several weeks during the day. Apparently, winter may start tomorrow. Rain and snow and much lower temps in the forecast. We had the offical 'Closing Ceremony' for the magical shade garden two weeks ago, honored it and celebrated with multiple bottles of amazing wine from our recent Anniversary trip to Napa Valley, and some good friends. Tony is driving school bus for a local district, and quite surprisingly, he is loving it. And I am very happy with my (now) multiple jobs at the brewery. Now to find $40,000 to pay off a balloon payment on our mortgage next Oct.

How is everything with you?

Hugs from me...

Brenda

The fall/winter garden is still doing well. We have been harvesting greens since Thanksgiving. Sugar snap peas are starting to develop pods and the root vegetables are nearing their first harvest. Broccoli is a week or two away from being ready too.

You done good, Dan! For beginners you must have put those babies in the ground at the perfect time. Got established prior to the freeze .... which they seem to have enjoyed. Cold weather veggies. Here, Here!!

Thank you everyone!

Susie...These were just barely out of the ground when we had the Rendezvous here in Oct. So I had to have planted them a week or two prior to that. With the wire cages and a few clothes pins it's easy to toss something over the top to protect from freezing temps.

If anyone finds themselves traveling to this part of the valley stop by and I'll be happy to share. As small as that space is, it still produces more than Deb and I can eat.
