Alan, your garden looks different from the last time we saw it. It is even lovelier.
I love the red CM so much that I might get one too.

Wow Alan! That's pretty impressive!

Alan, remember when you hosted the GW group waaaaay back when? Sheryl and Mike, aka azdesertrat were there; it was my birthday and I brought champagne. Smiling I got to enjoy your hospitality and your gorgeous yard. I think it looked just like these photos you posted. It may not be the same, but it's still beautiful!

Alan! What a show!
Our old-er, bodies --- Sometimes I think the way for new Baby Boomers to live in retirement is in communes, like we did in the '60-'70s. What fun... for me anyway! So many benefits for so many folks with collaborative help and work ....

Good morning Alan.
What is that tree in your front yard again?
Due to my advancing age I have CRS Desease.
But I do prescribe to staying young at heart.

Do you know the type of white crape myrtle you have?
I got a natchez in a 1 gallon container last year and it was only about 2' tall.
Its now taller than me (I'm 6') and has flowers.
I'm pretty impressed with the growth so far.
My next purchase is going to be a red one.
I thought I got a red one but turned out to be lavendar.

I think I got the two pictures confused and they arent the same tree I'm guessing.
Is the one with what looks like purple or blue flowers an orchid tree?
Can you combine the purple flowers of the orchid tree with the fall colors of the Bradford Pear please?

I'm now on a quest to find one of those Cherry-Hi CM. You have me sold on those. All I've seen at the box stores is a red one called Dynomite. But the weird thing I've noticed with them is that sometimes there are white flowers on them. That's kept me from getting one. If I get a red one, I want it to stay red.

Alan, our gardens change as we do. Your gardens in those pictures were very, very beautiful, but so are your gardens now. Thanks for sharing those beautiful photos. Sadly, I have never seen your gardens in person, but I do enjoy your photo tours!

Alan,
What kind of soil do you have? I'm sure you've amended over the years but, before that process started, what was the soil like? Clay, sand, caliche, river bed?

Now that is weird that the flowers start out white and then turn red.
I've done searches for the Cherry-Hi and I too have not been able to find one.
I wonder if the seller did mis-name it and its the Dynomite?
Sure sounds like the same thing. White flowers that turn to red.
Mesquite Valley Growers has a pretty good selection of CM's. I'll stop by there and see if they have anything that sounds close to Cherry-Hi.
Problem is they are so dang expensive there compared to Lowes or HD.
I like to keep the small guy in business but when the prices are double for a plant half the size it makes it a little hard to swallow.
