Hi,
The character of the spurs, which are especially visible on the bud on the left of the photo, shows that the plant in the photo isn't Aquilegia saximontana. It's a hybrid at best, possibly of or with Aquilegia flabellata or other species.
The characteristics of Aquilegia saximontana (which are very distinctive once pointed out) are well explained and illustrated in this thread at the NARGS forum:

Would you mind asking to have the photos (assuming they are of the same plant or plants from the same seed batch) moved to the general columbines entry?
