In the Daylily Forum, we tease each other about being addicted to Daylilies. While I'm confident that other gardeners feel the same way about their favorite plants, no other plant has really impacted my gardening life as much as these beauties we used to call "Ditch Lilies."

Fortunately .... I know of NO 12 step program for such an addiction!

Mary - I really got a kick out of your article! I can soooo relate!!!!

My addiction though is hybridizing and growing daylilies from seeds. I must give credit to a kind gardener (Sandy) here on ATP for my addiction when she shared a few of her daylily seeds with me many years ago. I grew some amazingly beautiful plants from those seeds, crossed them with each other, and then traded/received more seeds from a few other gardeners, purchased some seeds on LA and ebay, and continued to create hybrid seeds from my daylily plants. Now I have between 300-400 daylilies planted all around my yard. And I have plans for even more! LOL! The lawn is shrinking and the garden beds are expanding and almost every garden bed area has daylilies in them (as well as Hummingbird and Butterfly host and nectar plants)! LOL! So my addiction continues! I know someday I won't be able to squeeze another daylily plant into my yard ... but until then ... I am sure enjoying the show! Some addictions are not so bad at all!
