I'm wondering if it could have been the same coyote both times. I think that when wild animals find a place where they're successful in hunting they will return to that site. I'm glad you're considering moving, Jo. Unless that coyote gets hit by a car or something I wouldn't feel good about another little cutie at your current home (unless you get a concealed yard). I have a friend who has had coyotes walk on the block walls between houses. You'll find the little cutie after you all set up across the street... I'm going to get another dog, too, when the time is right -- about 4 months, I think.

I've been checking into those pool enclosures that I see alot in FL...then no critter could get in the enclosed area...but if you had flowers growing inside those the bees and moths couldn't get through to pollinate things....HMMMM Confused

Maybe UofA has an old, unused, heavy duty batting cage they want to get rid of....

Hi Jo,
I also live in a neighborhood where there is a lot of wildlife including coyotes, bobcats and javalinas. My neighbors say that coyotes can smell a dog from a distance and also have the patience to wait for decades at a time to get the dogs. we all have 6ft tall masonary walls but the coyotes can jump wayyyyyyy higher than that. My dog bunny had passed away due to medical illness but i had never let him in my garden(fenced with masonary wall-6ft) without my presence. I hope this helps.
Coyte got one of neighbor's dog too. Angry

Jo, this is just an idea, but it's what we're doing so our girls can run outside. This fencing comes in a big roll of 100 feet for $60 a roll. The fence stakes are about $5 each. The holes are maybe 2" x 4", plenty good enough for a small dog. It comes in different sizes too for not much more money. It's called Red Brand Fencing I think...
I figure we can fence my back yard for under $100.

It's not tall enough Lee Ann, Coyotes can jump anything less than a 10 foot fence.

I still say having a chain link "roof' is best. I wish I could find a photo of one for you. My friend also let a vine cover a lot of it....

I found a couple at Lowes Online. They don't have a chain link top, but perhaps you could by extra panels and throw them over the top and tie them down? They have some really nice dog runs there.

Lee Ann..That's about the kind of fence I have now...but thanks! Yes, it's too low...

Now alan, I like the idea of the second one...only two put together...so she will have more room...and my neice that Will be coming from Va has 3 dogs....and I have a ramp from my floor level down to the yard...so would have to have it go into the dog run...but I am getting excited that I may have another dog sooner than I thought possible....Thanks heaps...Jo

Sorry, forgot about the coyotes jumping. We have coyotes but they never come into the village.

I sure hope you find a solution soon Jo...you need another dog to love.
