Love MJ! Philo gloriosum has such beautiful leaves and that X. Lime Zinger has great color; nice contrast with your pretty Caladiums beneath!

MJ, it will look awesome with the Philippine Violet (Barleria cristata) in the fall!

By the way ... are you getting these awful storms over your way like we are right now? It's really been blowing out here for the past 45 minutes or so with lots of loud thunder and strong lighting. We sure need the rain but the lightning is scary! We've been under a severe storm warning until 6:45 so I'm hoping it passes out to sea real soon!

Lin, Yes we've been getting alot of rain, with lighting. They are coming straight over the county west to east. I just now hopped on the computer, but am leary as there is still thunder/lighting out there. I usually unplug the computer, and we have satellite internet, so we often lose that in these storms too.

It's finally calmed down here but still raining and there's still a little thunder in the distance. Looking at radar it seems there's still a lot of rain out there: http://www.accuweather.com/en/...

Mj, hope you have internet back again, and computer working. Is your P. Gloriosum in a pot or in the ground. I have two, and neither is exactly thriving. Given that they are the same age as yours, I obviously need to rescue and resuscitate them. One's in the ground and the other in a pot right next to it, sunk in the ground. The one in the pot is doing better but still not great.

You're lucky the storms are happening in the afternoons for you, with this flow off the Gulf, ours have been in the middle of the night - 3am on Friday, and before 5am last night! I'm going to need a nap today if this keeps up.

Elaine,
Yup, internet comes back after the storms pass. We got ours early today. Rain gauge overflowing, so at least 2 in. Everything is so soggy, including me !
I hope this is not a sign of things to come. It was like this in the summer of "04" before the hurricanes.

In one way I wouldn't mind if the storms came thru late at night or early morning, except for all the lighting. Horses go out at night cause it's cooler. So they have been up during these storms. I'd be a nervous wreck worrying about one getting hit by lighting.

P. Gloriosum is in a pot. I bought one of those fake 1/2 barrels. It's actually a little shorter depth wise, but has the width. I put Styrofoam in the bottom to take up some space.
I had looked and looked for a swallower WIDE pot but couldn't find what I wanted. Anyway Gloriosum really likes to spread, and it took off after I put it in there. It's just about hit the edges of the pot, ( 22 in. wide pot) so I'm hoping I can somehow turn it or maybe it will be happy creeping over the edges ? Shrug! I fertilize with Jack's 20/20/20, either 1/2 strength or with all this rain I may do a full strength.

Anthurium pseudospectablile making another new leaf...The color isn't showing up well, it's almost a blue/gray green when they first unfurl.

Nice and nicer mj. A. pseudospectablile is really putting on some serious leaves. How fast do they appear?

Evan I think A. pseudospectablie has put out 4 new leaves since April. If you look immediately to the right of the new leaf I measured you can see the last one it put out.
It sheds the older smaller leaves so all the leaves are bigger ones. It's really a great plant. Tolerates a pretty wide range of conditions. If not for the size that it get's I bet it would be a great houseplant, just when mature most people wouldn't have room. I've already planned a spot for it in the greenhouse in winters where it can hang to it's hearts content. ( can't tell I like this plant huh Rolling on the floor laughing )

This is definitely a winner. Not sure how you can choose with so may beauties. I've been surprised several times this year by the size some Amorphs get from smallish tubers. I was potting at 3-4 times tuber size but had to repot some because they'd tip over. Big Grin Does your Mickey mouse have this little appendage in addition to the tail?

It really is a beauty, Mj and looks like it will take up more vertical than horizontal room in the greenhouse, too. A great thing.

My wonderful Philo pastazanum from Drew is just getting bigger and better, each leaf nicer than the one before.

Oh Elaine it is gorgeous ! Have you got it climbing on something ?

Evan yes Mickey Mouse has the little tail. They seem to form as the leaves get bigger. I think it's so cool !!
I was looking at my A. bulbifer this evening and realized I need to repot it. I'm running low on bigger pots !

I guess you worked out the roundabout Elaine. That looks amazing.

MJ, there are supposedly Mickey Mouse with the tail but no appendage. I thought it would be cool to compare them.

Right, Evan. I haven't yet had to make a totem pole for the P.pastazanum. Pretty soon though.

Love the Mickey Mouse. Mj, will you quit hogging all the rain . . again today I see you getting poured upon, and we hear the odd rumble of thunder and get nuttin!

Evan, I'll try to get some decent pics of the Mickey Mouse today.

Elaine, I'd gladly send you some rain. It's been a pain in one sense, BUT our lakes and ponds are now starting to look alot better. Last few years had been on the dry side and all of them were down.

They look like they're growing really well. I only see the tail, no green appendage but their small. Maybe the larger leaves will get the little appendage. This is what I mean by appendage.
