That should have been plenty of time, Duane, but I bet the deer issue may have caused the small crop. Also, my experience has been that they develop the tubers pretty deep down, maybe your container wasn't deep enough? I also notice that the vines send down roots along the way, and I think that helps to support the plat a lot. Not sure how well they can do that in a container, unless the vines reach down to the ground. I didn't get mine in the ground until the fist week in June, but they have taken off like mad, at least the vines did, I don't know what I have under there yet. The vines are at least 10 feet long. I'll give them all of this month, and if it doesn't freeze, some of next month to grow. I ended up just planting Beauregard this year. I was going to put one into a half barrel container, mostly for aesthetics, but to see also if they would produce in a container, but I ended up putting some egg plant in there instead. Maybe next year. (That should be some fine tasting venison! Whistling )
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.
