What are these tiny ballon like things on moss?

They are sporophytes, the spore producing stage of the moss.

Those are spore capsules.

Well, I have no idea what kind of moss it is. It is just growing in the flower bed on the north east side of the house

As an aside, my iphone took that picture. I'm amazed at how good pictures come out from a phone.
