Celia -- I was looking at your picture of the two Irises together. What you need is a nice red Iris added to that photograph -- wouldn't that be a sight??? Green Grin!

It has been suggested that my purple is Ozark Rebounder. What do you think?

Nope. Ozark Rebounder is a much newer iris (2003) than yours, and much more ruffled. Yours is lots older. I'm thinking 40's-50's, anyway....Arlyn

I may have that same iris Mary Ann. We have swapped it about several counties. Yes, it lights up a garden. Thank you for posting the photo.

I forgot to mention I checked O.R.s DOB and you are probably right on mine not being that one. Do we need more pics?

More is always better! If I were you ,I'd go to the HIPS site (Historic Iris Preservation Society)http://historiciris.org/ ,
and look through the" gallery", you may see something that looks like a candidate. Check out the rest of the site while you're there.....lot's of good info.... Whistling and we are always on the hunt for new members! I haven't taken the time to do much looking for the "black" one, but the falls remind me of "Patent Leather", and the "form" of the flower reminds me of "Sable Night", if you want someplace to begin looking....Arlyn

I thought it might be close, and a good starting place. Not sure if there are any more pics of PL on the AIS wiki, or not. If you still think it's a good possibility, after seeing some more pics, and reading the AIS, and HIPS descriptions, as to height, season, etc., the next step would probably be to find someone who grows PL, and see if they will either accept a piece of yours, or send you a piece of theirs, for comparison "in the garden". Sorry I can't help you, but, I don't grow PL, or even know anyone who does, but the "regulars" here will probably see this thread, so, ....maybe Shrug! , and you could also post on Cubits.....Arlyn
