I recently bought a small adenium... I had been growing plumeria for years and was looking for a little change, and something a little smaller I'd love to see pictures of everyone's adenium's... also, how do people care for them... what fertilizer do you use, what light exposure, what planting medium?? Let's help each other grow healthy, happy adenium's

I killed both of mine this winter, I have nothing to show I let them get wet, when I should have been keeping them dry. It was all the extra rain we had this year ;( THey got soggy and turned to mush :((((((......

I think that's how my mom killed one of her's... I kept mine inside, relatively dry, and watered when the little leaf buds started popping... Hope I see some blooms, but don't know when that usually happens...

It can happen almost anytime I think. Slowly transition it to full sun, if you haven't already, and keep it watered, now that it is hot. It will start blooming within the month. Fertilize with a time released fertilizer.

Time release?? ok, I can do that... next question though.... what type of soil?? I still have it in the nursery pot it came in and I'm not really sure what's in it...

good ole cactus soil. Maybe when we go to Tucson next weekend nursery hoping I can get me another nice speciman? I will have to be very protective of this one though!!!

haha, yea, I tried to get my mom a replacement, but I couldn't find one... I was shocked... I'm going out for cactus soil today for my plumeria and I'll pick up soil and a pot for the adenium... it's really small right now, what size pot would you recommend??

How Small? They grow really slow.

maybe a foot tall, max... the nursery pot it came in is a 4"... I just think it needs a bigger pot...

I think a 6" or 8" pot would be fine. Remember the thicker caudx will be under the soil, so raise it up a little out of the soil when you replant it to show off more of that thick caudex, just under the soil line.

Hey Alan and Brit - there is a vendor at the Farmer's Market downtown on Saturday's that has Adeniums in varying sizes. I don't know how much they are but will check next weekend if we go. I know Alma goes a lot too and maybe she can check it out too... He had a few Plumeria too.

They are cool plants and I'm kinda tempted to get one myself - lol...

I love mine, it's sooo cute... yea, let me know what you find out... also, where is this magical farmer's market?? I'm taking the next couple weekends off and would love to go down there is it both Saturday and Sunday, or just one day??

The market is Saturdays from 8-noon and Wednesdays from 4-8. Different vendors both days. I know the guy with the Adeniums is there Saturday but not sure about Wednesday. The market is downtown at Central and McKinley (just south of Roosevelt).

Singh Farms is the primo source locally for compost. Only open Saturdays - you are correct. The Phoenix Public Market is a whole 'nother ballgame...

Singh farm also sales fresh market produce, all organic as I recall. I thought that was what you were asking about.
