This year I grew from seed a plant I think is an ice plant. The packet called it Mesembryanthemum Sparkles Mixed. Here is some pictures of the packet.


When I look online it seems that this is an ice plant which is completely different. Do you have any idea what this plant actually is?

There are many different species of Mesembryanthemum according to the Catalogue of Life. We also have a large list in the database here on ATP. Not very many of them have photo entries yet.

The species status comes from the GRIN database, which appears to represent the latest review. There is disagreement, to a greater degree than usually seen, in the major taxonomic databases about this and related names.

Great information Evan. Even on Catalogue of Life Mesembryanthemum it is rather convoluted in the names and synonyms.
