I was wondering if a box could be added in plant data for whether or not some seeds/plants are organic. Most of my vegetable seeds are organic but there is no place to indicate that.

Seeds may be organically produced but plant species/varieties are not categorically "organic" or not "organic" - what is catalogued in plant databases are plant species/varieties. If seeds are produced from plants that are grown in certified "organic" conditions (qualifications of organic certification vary from place to place), and sold as such, then they are organic, but it's not a characteristic that is innate to a species or variety. So, you may post photos of plants that you grew from organic seeds, but they aren't any different in any physical characteristic from plants of the same species/variety that someone else grew from seeds that were not designated as organic.

Okay. I was thinking more that some people might want to know if a particular variety (especially vegetables) were available as organic. But what you said makes perfect sense.

Furthermore, if someone takes certified organic seed but doesn't grow the plants they produce by organic principles, those plants are not organic. That's how easy the "organic" designation is lost.

Sorry Elena, I got distracted while adding to the thread, and didn't see your post until after I had posted.

I see where your question was going now.
