I'm with Jo Ann. So beautiful! Mine are being dug, potted and comtemplated, LOL! I still need to find a new place for Casa Blanca since it gets sooo tall, but did replant the formosas, Mona Lisa and Stargazer in ammended dirt. I have four others that also need better dirt. I'm getting there!

Those yellow with dots lilies at the begining of my post are YELLOW STAR TIGER LILIES. To me they are just so really, really pretty. New this spring. I got them from K. Van Bourgondien.

Woops, there is no YELLOW STAR in the database. I am wondering if this is another of Van Bourgondien's names that they just made up themselves.

They could be Citronella or L. leichtlinii. Yes, they make it up. In particular they do like to throw a 'Tiger' on the end of any spotted lily. This is typical of most generic sellers Thumbs down .

I'll do a bit of research on Yellow Star and see if I can find anything.

I got them at the same time I bought an orientaly lily collection this spring from VB. I wanted some color for a corner in front of some roses and I must say that they do look good there planted sort of in the middle of a grouping of oriental lillies.

I know that many of the Tango lilies I got from VB have a different name in the database here than from what VB calls them so I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true here also.

Here is a link to what is most likely the real Yellow Star.

Mine has more dots than the picture you just posted. So do you think that mine is not really YELLOW STAR? It really looks exactly like the picture VB shows on their site that they call yellow star.

I have gotten mismarked lilies from VB that were not what they were marked to be many times before. But this time it at least appears to be correct acording to their descroption and picture.

I did look at VB's photo and it does look like yours but not like the Lily Nook photo. Your lily appears to curl back more and is down facing, whereas the other is flatter and more out facing. If you look again at the register description, the (b) in the upper left corner signifies an outfacing lily.

This is a pretty old cultivar (I think it dates back to around 1949). No surprise if the Dutch don't have the original...

They do like to resurrect the names of those old ones, don't they? Angry
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

Mine deffinately is down facing. And it really curles back strongly. Oh well. I really think it is pretty so I guess I had better be happy with that. Thank you for your help. Smiling

Well Rita, if they are going to make up names, I'd call your yellow lily "Buttery Sunshine." LOL! It is a beautiful strong yellow.

Aren't those nice suprises?

I really don't think anyone should be allowed to make up a name. They should have to use registered names. Sometimes I think I bought a flower I already had, by another name. Grrr!

Not really such a big deal for me as I mostly just have lilies to get lots of summer color. Some I keep the names and put a label after planting, others I just plant ands don't care that I no longer know the name.

I'm with you, Sally. I keep the names very well, but if a tag gets pulled up by a helpful child I just enjoy it. the plant I call them pretty, no matter what name I might think they are. Just pretty.
