I have two daylilies that do not match the images in the Plant Database from All Things Plants. The names on them when purchased were: Plum Perfect and Spare Time.

Thumb of 2014-05-15/petruske/89baaf

Plum Perfect was purchased in a pot and someone could have mixed labels.
Spare Time was dug while at a daylily farm. Already had a bloom so I got what I wanted, but perhaps I, and the digger, took the name from another daylily next to it in the row.
I appreciate any help you may offer.

Sorry about your misidentified daylilies. I do not recognize either one. Hope you get an id for them.

The first one looks a bit like Grape Kool-Aid to me:

But, if it is more in the red range (hard to tell with photos), maybe:

It will help if you check the stats and see if they generally match up (height, flower size, etc), though those things can vary! Additionally, if you cross-pollinate them with known dips or tets you may find out which ploidy it is.

Hopefully, others may have some additional cultivars that might be possible matches. :D

Sure does look like Grape Kool-Aid!! That's "Kool". Thanks I think I will change the name tag in my garden (keeping notes on my computer).
I'm going to email the place where I purchased Spare Time to ask what daylily they have on both ends of the REAL Spare Time daylily.

Great Idea to contact them to see if they can sort it out! As always, with over 70,000 daylily cultivars, our guesses are just guesses. Group hug Hope to see more of your photos here and in the database soon! Thumbs up

That's the best way to get an ID, ask the original vendor. With over 77,000 registered daylilies, and nothing very distinctive in the looks, there could be literately hundreds of possibilities. Better to give it a garden name if you never hear back from the vendor.

I heard back from the vendor. I have the correct plant and correct name: Here is their reply: Our 'Spare Time' is a daylily that we have hybridized and named 'Spare Time'. We have not registered the daylily so we are free to call it whatever we want. You have the correct name, that is definitely Spare Time.

I will make notes that it is an unregistered daylily. I looked up their plant list from and did see that they do indicate with an * all the unregistered plants.

Cool! So nice to know the history of a plant. I find that a lot of hybridizers and sellers either create or sell unregistered daylilies that they must personally admire. A very pretty flower, too. Thumbs up

I didn't think you could sell them with an actual name if they were not registered. That would be confusing. What if someone else ends up using the Name that they are calling those daylilies?

Yup, with 70,000 registered and who knows how many unregistered, it does get confusing. Add in when even registered daylilies are ID'd incorrectly by simple human error (or roving rizome roots!) from their point of origin, and ... well ... I'd be skeptical of anyone who claims to be absolutely sure about what they have, what ploidy it is, how tall the scape will go in any given environment, etc. But, in balance, as long as someone's not asking $800 for a DF they have not seen bloom, I'm good with people doing their best, questioning things when they seem off, and enjoying all the amazing faces that daylilies present to us.

Somehow that reminds me ... Enchanted Elegance. At first I though my fans could not be right because the eye was soooo chalky and unattractive, not like in the pictures. It was like that all last summer and I'd tagged it for culling. But now it has just bloomed with a nice blended eye and petal, so at least I now believe it is the right plant. I just don't like daylilies that take forever to "settle in" so I may end up tossing it after getting some pollen ... always something, eh? Hilarious!
