So we are predicted to have widespread frost tonight and tomorrow night. Thought you'd like to see how I spent Mother's Day this year. We can have frost till Memorial Day but often don't. This year the entire garden is 2 weeks ahead so it's especially vulnerable. I just decided to pick and chose what to attempt to protect and bring in various flowers to enjoy inside in case I lose them outside.

I covered the cyps with a towel and them threw on top my tobacco net that I use on the blueberries later as a bird shield. I'm not sure if this will protect the shade garden but it's worth a try. I tried to buy expensive frost protek products today at HD but they only sell them online. So back to sheets and towels for the peonies. Here's the shade garden.

And so I ran around clipping things mostly lilacs so the barn smells amazing!

The outdoor pictures are amazing!! And I LOVE the bouquet pics.

I scrambled to move most of my plants back into the garage and built tents on the decks over the Cacti and Succulents. The problem with those was still the wind, which kept tugging on the tarps. I hope everything holds.

Kathy, your lilacs are beautiful in the vase! I envy you that part of it. I don't envy your possibility of loosing your plants. Looks like you've done all you can to protect your garden...not the ideal way to spend Mothers day. Got my fingers crossed for all of you back there! Keep us posted.

Yay! No frost last night, but if I hadn't done the frost dance.......!

Same here. I think we are good. It was a toasty 45 degr F under the C&S tarps and the garden looked fine.
