That's good to hear! I'm glad to hear/see something so interesting at any BBS. TY for the lovely pics! Looks like they already had leaves on them when you bought them?

I absolutely love those. The post office has a padded envelope that ships for 5.95 free tracking. I have packed them till they stretch and no problem shipping them, that would be the best way removing all the leaves if sending ee's

Sure, you could do that when they're dormant in winter, but now? It would be risky business in hot weather and with the plants already growing.

We should think about the co-op idea in the fall, late fall. Or early next spring before they break dormancy.

When I got the starts of those plants in my pictures a few years ago, they came potted in 3in. pots, with leaves already going. Early April-ish when they arrived if my memory serves.

Here's a picture of my neighbor's Xanthos in the ditch. They look a lot like yours, Sandy. The County cleared out this ditch a few months ago with a backhoe, and still they're jumping right back up. The plant on the left has a leaf nearly 3ft. long already! We had an unusually rainy spring here, and they do love water!

Sandy: Your plant sure looks like that spread rampantly down here. I dug out and threw away some huge ones last year and I'm still finding runners and little pups popping up in two different beds. They are really pretty but area listed as a Category II invasive here in Fla. http://plants.ifas.ufl.edu/nod...

Really does look and sound like the one I have. Good thing I don't mind where it is. plantladylin also think that is it.

*Blush* Oops, I edited my earlier post ... it was Sandy who had the EE's that looked like the ones that grow wild down here. Smiling

Great, now I look like I'm muttering incoherently. (Can anyone tell the difference!?) LOL!! I have so much fun here!

...so that kind is 'a runner,' huh? I'm glad I never got bored enough to go dig some of the 'wild EE's' in ditches around here. I bet they are those. I had no idea EE's could run. C. esculenta is so well behaved (at least in 8b.) I don't abide anything that runs in my garden. Way too lazy to chase plants!

This was several months ago, there's now a big bulb at the end and runners coming out of it!

It's about 8' long, I think they ramble further if they can't root in, and when they are in shade.

Xanthosoma run wild here if they have the room, those in my photo below were short compared to some I dug out that were 5' long or more.

Those runners in Sway's photo look a lot like Basket Plant (Callisia fragrans) runners which will run amok below the soil and along the top of the ground too! I wish I'd taken pictures of some of the runners before we cleared out hundreds from a bed last year.

Lin that is the one I have. So now the puzzle is solved. I understand some other ee's run also.

Other runners are cape honeysuckle and ruellia Tweediana. I chased the ruellia for years until I found a cure to take it out and nothing else. I have some areas I don't mind runners but not where it started out.

Mexican Petunia (Ruellia simplex) is very invasive here and yet I see it for sale at the big box stores all the time!

And Cape Honeysuckle (Tecoma capensis) I know a lot about ... it was running amok at our other house. I haven't been over there in a long while and our tenants aren't into yard work so the yard may be taken over by that stuff by now.

Terrifying - note to self: research before installing any "EE's" in the ground!

Sure looks like Callisia fragrans in this pic though.

Shoot, trying to "quote" last pic Evan posted (via quote, belonging to swayback.) The runners in that pic looks like Callisia fragrans.

Nope, as I recall he (Swayback) posted pictures of the Colocasia attached to those runners in the same post. Evan just didn't show it.

It's over in the Aroids forum, probably way back last summer.
