I have that one ordered Leslie. I have seen it in several gardens and it is always an eye catcher. My latest to bloom is Cosmopolitan. I was walking about during garden chores this morning and I looked across at it all honey colored on the standards and lavenderish falls and thought how beautiful it was from a distance. Then I realized it is because it is the only one in that area still in bloom. One of my longest to bloom from first open to last is Shipmate First Class a very pale blueish iris. Nice big blooms and real show stalks. It blooms alongside Quiet Reflection, a pale pink, and makes a lovely combination. They bloom at the same time usually and QR is almost as long blooming as SFC.

Cosmopolitan is still blooming away. I have one or two blooms left. Shipmate first class and a pink I cant quite see what it is this early in the morning. Now I will have some LA's bloom. LA's are beautiful but I think of them as the consolation prize after my bearded are through for the spring. I know.......... I have friends that devote acres to the LA's. And I will visit their gardens and enjoy them.

Bonnie, I didn't know what Cosmopolitan looked like, and low an behold there are no pictures of it in the data base. Maybe you should add one! Smiling

what do you think?

TB Cosmopolitan

This makes the most gorgeous clump from a distance. The top looks like honey in the sun while the lavender falls accent the warm tones. I really like it.

It's a beauty Bonnie -- for sure the second photo in the database!!

Love Rhinelander -- one that I've been intending to get for a long time. There's something about those lavender Irises..................... Lovey dubby Tom -- adding Just One More surely wouldn't hurt -- and look at it this way -- you have an automatic outlet for unwanted increases!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

The first couple buds on this didn't open (It's called balling up on roses.. Is there a specific term for Irises?).. But once it did. WOW! These flowers are huge. 'Judy Mogil' (McWhirter 1997)

Wow Bonnie! I don't have anything like Cosmopolitan. Despite it's uniqueness, I think it would be easy to place in the garden.
More pictures!

Cosmopolitan is down to its last two blooms. I can recommend it for strong stalks, multiple blooms up the stalk that last a long time and it looks as lovely up close as it does across the garden. Every iris grower needs to consider growing Cosmopolitan.

Here are the only three I have in attendance for the Late Show

Dividing Line MTB. Not usually a late bloomer. it looked like it was not going to grow this spring so I potted it and it rebounded and has been blooming for two weeks. It still has a few blooms
Thumb of 2014-05-23/grannysgarden/f927b5

Beyond Paradise. A lovely pink with pale rust lines on the shoulders. This is not a great picture of it but I am enjoying the bloom.
Thumb of 2014-05-23/grannysgarden/71e9c6

and of course, Cosmopolitan
