They really are beautiful! And I agree, the way the chicks grow around it is almost the most appealing part...

Here it is in July. I love the cilia lining the leaves, it really shows up when the plant is in it's red stage.

Oddity x Red Lion Three little seedlings from all that seed. And solid green.

I have that with my seedlings as well. Lots of green.

Lynn the 3 look like red lion in terms of shape - was hoping for some oddity shape!! I wonder if your seedlings needed a bit more fertilizer (even fish fert.) to retain more color??? I don't use it myself, but also haven't grown any from seed. It will be interesting to see what happens during the winter for you both!!

I don't think they need fertilizer for coloring up. My other seedling from 2012 came into the world with plenty of color. Guess I will just have to wait until next summer to decide whether or not to compost them.

Julia we can only hope that they will gain some color come spring time.

I have them planted were I take the dogs down into the yard so I see them often and have hope one will color. Wish us all luck.

What little seedlings I have are green but they are a fuzzy green so there's some interest to them even if they don't color.... Can you tell I have (different) lower standards?
I love the seedlings of Patty's which is my last chance of growing something from seed before year is out. I will winter sow the seeds that Julia generously gave to me this coming Jan...

Next year we should see an increase in members participating in growing semps from seed, and possible raising a new named semp.

I collected all the dried flowers and will have seed pretty soon. Maybe a rainy day activity (crushing and sifting them).
