It would be helpful if you could show the leaves too, and some idea of the spread of the plant, but my guess from the flower alone would be Nymphaea 'James Brydon'.

It looks like the bloom but the leafs/lily pads are dark green and purplish? Does that make sense? LOl.

Could you also show a photo of the leaves? Characteristics of the leaf and sinus (the split in the leaf where the stem is attached) are clues to the cultivar.

Yes, might be 'Attraction'.... looks like the photos in the database here are pale, early season flowers??

hmm ... I read somewhere that Nymphaea Attraction's emerging leaves are a burgundy/purplish color in the spring ... I wonder if Darwin is the same?

For comparison, there are photo's in the database of Hardy Water Lily (Nymphaea 'Colorado')

LOL, the more photo's I look at the more they all look alike to me. I'm really not good at comparing photo's.

@plantladylin I think that one is to light. It looks close but the one I posted is a little bit darker.

The leaves, too, look very much like 'Attraction'.

@growitall I think you might be on to something with Attraction. It looks more like it than Darwin. I was looking on line this am and I saw some pics of Darwin that did not look like the one I posted. The leaves on attraction look like the leaves on the one I posted also, you are right!

Any credit goes to Lin for linking your plant to 'Attraction', not to me. Smiling

Smiling But, it was just a guess on my part, Lori ... you are the one who said photo's of leaves were needed for a proper ID. Thumbs up I just make guesses when it's not a plant I'm real familiar with. Green Grin!
