The purple one in by itself in row seven is either Glandularia bipinnatifida (native), or Glandularia pulchella (introduced and considered invasive in Texas). The are difficult to distinguish without close inspection, but I think that is probably the native G. bipinnatifida.

Was that a Sensitive Plant 6th row last photo? Mimosa pudica

Here is one from Innisfail, North Queensland last week. Is it introduced for you too? I can remember as a kid there used to be roadside notices along cane fields: WARNING GIANT SENSITIVE WEED.

Jmorth, I am excited to see that you were impressed with our Texas wildflowers. I guess that we are used to seeing them and don't notice them as much, but we love them all. Smiling

Here is a field full of them at Tandy Hills Prairie in Fort Worth on mother's day.

Beautiful J, thanks so much for sharing! You must have had fun looking at & photographing all those wildflowers.

It was certainly a fulfilling trip in many ways. In Houston, my daughter got married and we visited the Mercer Botanic Gardens; we then drove to Fort Worth where my wife's bro lives. In route thereto were vast stands of wildflowers. We drove the outer road next to I 45 a couple of times to get near and photograph wildflowers, Once in Ft Worth we went to some rural wildflower fields behind his house as well as in a park in the far western Ft Worth suburbs. Then it was off to see the PGA Colonial tournament (bro in law was a Marshall at the 15th hole there and provided us tickets). Got quite a few pics of professional golfers. We also found some pretty good size wildflower stands along the border of the mammoth Lockheed-Martin manufacturing plant in Ft Worth. A couple of years ago, bro in law provided us a tour of Lockheed Martin (he worked there then). They manufacture the newest jets for the Air Force, one building was over a mile long.

Oh my goodness! A rewarding trip on so many levels. Congrats on your daughter's wedding. Hurray!
I'm sure your wife was happy to see her brother & it sounds as if you have a great relationship with him as well. There's nothing like liking your in-laws.

The more I see of Texas, in pictures & reading, the more it seems like they are very cognizant of "the wild things" & keeping wild areas. I'm sure Ladybird Johnson had much to do with that.

Yes she did, but there is also a big movement through the Texas Parks and Wildlife to preserve native plants and animals. Smiling

GOOD! Now, if we could just get the other states to follow suit....... In my state, the northern portions seem to be doing pretty good with it. The southern portion tries but they aren't doing a very good job of it, partly b/c there is already so much overdevelopment, partly b/c big money changes minds about conserving.

I guess we all can play our part even in some small way.
I am part of a group of volunteers called Texas Master Naturalists, and our mission is to help our local area maintain and preserve native plants and animals. Smiling

No I don't know him personally, but I will check, of course there are many people who volunteer there.
I volunteer in Arlington, because the nature center is about 1 hour away from us, but I do go there occasionally Smiling
