Yikes ... I hope they are going to check the internet - even at bogo anyone can get some of them for the same price elsewhere at gardens that are well-documented to be generous and very well respected for tip-top plants ... Shrug! caveat emptor

Yes, but I do not believe you could get the huge multiple-fanned plants they will send elsewhere! This sale is only for existing customers, and those of us who purchase from them already know their quality and that we will get at least two to three times the size of plant that we usually can get elsewhere for less.

Needless to say, I'm sure you can tell that I'm totally enthused about Floyd Cove Nursery and I do believe that you usually get what you pay for, and I have been disappointed several times in the past when purchasing their introductions from other sources (usually a single fan) and then having to wait for sometimes another year just to see a bloom -- when I could have paid the Floyd Cove price and gotten a huge plant that is almost guaranteed to bloom during that first year and will often fill not one but two pots.

I've purchased from them over the Internet before, but didn't get the e-mail.

Did they say where they're moving to? Just curious.

They've purchased property right where they live, which I believe is right close by their current nursery site and definitely in the same town, and their Facebook page has pictures showing how they have developed the property over the last year to get everything ready for their big move next month. They were previously leasing the current nursery site but were having water shortage problems, so they just decided to purchase other land and be done with it.

I suspect they will be mailing the flyers to their customers.

Most of the bigger hybridizers do not lower their prices like the ones who resell others cultivars so you will pay a higher price buying direct but you do get nice size fans and usually multiple fans since they grow and increase really well down in that area of Florida.

Tina, could you help us with the names of some of these nurseries? I'm sure that would be great information to have.

I don't think the forum is exactly the right place to advertise (perhaps Garden Deals at http://garden.org/forums/view/... or Classifieds at http://garden.org/forums/view/...) or I may misunderstand the nature of the discussion forum versus selling and advertising areas? Blinking You can google the cultivars at www.google.com to find prices ... but you probably knew that, right? :D

I think you will get multiple fans for this reason. From what I've seen, visiting their location, all of their named varieties are in pots.

And, if you read one of Karen's posts on Facebook, she clearly states that they're hoping not to have to move so many pots...in sum, you'll get whatever is in the pot.

We do like to post info if we find out someone is having a sale so others can check it out.

If one is self promoting a sale then it gets put in the classified area and you can post a message saying you are having a sale then put the link to the post in the classifieds.

Sounds like a dedicated discussion thread could fast-track everyone posting second-party adverts to "Sales and Classifieds" Thumbs up

I totally agree with Michele -- I and others certainly have done this before when we find out about a sale, and this is one of the reasons I enjoy this forum so much. And I really hope this forum doesn't start becoming too restrictive. I enjoy my freedom to share information with others who might be interested!

Yes, I can see both sides of this story. I had never even been to the "deals" forum till now and just picked up a nice rebate form on Osmocote.

Talking about plants is nice... but lets face it, it doesn't equal the fun of the plants themselves. Guess that makes me all for the posting of sales. Hurray! I tip my hat to you.
