@JRsbugs I've got these bugs on the wisteria this year...don't remember ever seeing them before. Any ideas what they are? Good guys or out with the garbage?

It looks like a Kudzu bug, which may seem a problem but if you have Kudzu it would be a good bug to have!

Eventually the numbers of kudzu bug will decline as native predators and parasites discover this new insect and adapt to it. Until then, at least it is impacting the growth of kudzu vine!

They do look creepy Ginger! As recent invasives, the only bug I don't leave to the will of nature is the Red Lily beetle. Pick them off and put under foot. Thumbs up

I haven't seen any kudzu bugs yet this year, but had a whole crop of them hanging out on potted house plants that were outside last fall. So a lot of the kudzu bugs ended up being brought inside. Over winter they seem to move very little, hanging out on a myriad of plants but not doing any visible damage. Since we moved in April, I've been extremely less observant than usual. All of the plants are sitting on the ground under trees, so squatting down to inspect each one, like I would if not necessary to squat, ain't happenin. IDK if there is a crop of babies out there or not.

There's some info about them here, though not much is known yet.

There is no kudzu, wisteria, or soy beans near my house (within a half mile probably,) so I'm pretty sure these bugs are interested in a much wider variety of plants.
