Looks like aside from the scale attacking your plant, it also has some bacterial rot ongoing. I would suggest you treat the scale infestation, remove all the rotten branches like that, repot to a new porous soil. Keep the plant in a shady side and hopefully it will recover.

You may also want to try and start some leaf cuttings as back-up. It is going into summer, and weather is warm, so it will not be too difficult to root new cuttings.

I looked for the white areas today but didn't see any. Isn't there an insect spray I can use just in case??

So I just wanted to post these recent photos of what I think could be a bug infestation in my Jade.. I also wanted to post an overall photo of my jade after I did some pruning. What does everyone think of the possible insect issue and what does everyone think about the need for more pruning?

It's mixture of pesticide and water applied to the soil around a plant.

It's 1-2 tablespoons of Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub in a gallon of water. Drench the soil in pots in the fall before moving succulents indoors for the winter. Effective for 12 months. Smiling

Lynn, I don't know. I've only used it on succulents. There is a commercial drench available for trees and large shrubs but that is for outdoor use.
