The first Datura, Evening Fragrance is opening tonight! Last night was a full moon so hopefully the clouds will dissipate soon so I can shoot some moonlight pictures.

In photographing this flower I had an epiphany. This was the first time I had really seen a truly white flower probably over 20 years. The cataracts in both eyes were so bad that they literally tinted everything yellow and I didn't have a clue the color shift was so dramatic until I had the first eye done. I had both eyes done a while back and the novelty of true colors and clarity still hasn't worn off.

Hurray! Hurray! My Datura is a mere 12" tall. I can only hope to have a single blossom as pretty as yours, Anne. I can't wait to see it fully open. I hope you catch it!

Thank you Dave.

Cheryl, like most plants in the Solanaceae Family of plants, they like lots and lots of food and grow fast when well fed. I don't think you can over feed a Datura or Brugmansia.

Thanks! I missed the initial opening as I was on the phone. It's opening fast. I sure hope the clouds go away later!

Last picture with available light. It's grainy because I was set at 1000 ASA. If the moon does come out, I'll post more.

I like daturas smell!

Asiatic lilies on the other...ack...they're so stinky!

I know why I hate it tho, years of selling them!

Try loadin a few hundred blooming lilies in a box truck, close it down all night, then after 4 hours of sleep, stagger to the truck at 5am...

It's the longest ride to town you can imagine!
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!
