Looking up daylily 'Peggy Jeffcoat' there is a beautiful image that has received six thumbs, but it is not the main image that comes up first, wondering why?

The moderators and admins have the ability to choose a particular photo to serve as the main thumbnail image for a plant. I don't know why it was done in this case, but we had a couple of reasons to do it in the rose database. Before there was anything like a thumbs-up, the thumbnail was always the first image uploaded to the entry, but subsequent images often were more representative or of better quality, so we would choose one of them to serve as the main thumbnail. After the thumbs-up feature was instituted, the photo gaining the most thumbs-ups was not necessarily better than an older image that had not been eligible for a thumbs-up at the start and had not gained enough attention simply by appearing occasionally as the random plant image.

Zuzu,
Thanks I thought the system might be broken. I have the plant on the way and I hope it looks like this one!

I wonder if @dave can give us the option to uncheck one that had previously been selected so that the thumb-up option once again dictates the position? I had to select the current one just to get the other one out of that spot but if another images gets more thumbs up than this one, then this would happen again.

One way to override it is to bury the current main thumbnail to page two, then immediately unbury it back to page one. After you do that, the image with the most thumbs will be in the top position.

Thanks Kent, since we have a solution I won't make any changes. If you want a more refined approach someday let me know. Smiling

It's not the most elegant solution, but it works fine, especially since it's a situation that doesn't come up very often. Thumbs up

Ok well I did make the change. You'll see it now in the main image view (Expand the image in the database.) Under the ATP BB code you'll see a link to unmark it as the over-ride thumbnail.
