We are being hit by the outer bands or rain now from the hurricane. You do not often hear that term, 'outer bands of rain' to describe our weather. More a Florida or Texas thing I think. So far the rain is very light. I took off a bit after 7:00 A.M. and hit 3 groceries so have the food in and got extra ice in case we lose power and have to put some food in the ice chest. They are making a real BIG deal out of this storm and it appears a third hurricane is forming and heading in the same track for maybe next week !!! The weather channel even sent Jim Cantore here and that guy only pops up on the really big disasters so it is a bit scary here !!

Linda, Please understand I'm not trying to downplay anything at all but these weather people LOVE nothing more than to scare you half to death. Take it from someone who has lived my entire life in Hurricane central so to speak. The more they can get you freaked out, the more you will watch & "they" are *stars* who want to be paid mo money. The more you watch them, the more they can demand. The more you watch the channel, the more money the station makes. You know the old saying....
You can't buy advertisement like that.
It applies to these weather stations & personalities.

Yes, watch but don't stay glued to the set. It will just heighten your stress. (And that's what they're after) And that's JUST what you don't need. Be aware, check in every several hours & in the meantime, go play a computer game, or do a crossword puzzle or a jigsaw puzzle or something that occupies you & you find fun.

Thanks Ann for the good advise. I am not a big fan of the weather channel and they are truly doing a great job at raising the anxiety levels here. My solution is to pray and go clean something. Just finished the two bathrooms and the anxiety level has gone done ! No rain here now and the sky has brightened up but still heavy clouds. Poor Jim Cantore is being filmed standing next to a dry wash. They have had to show old film of when it was running.

They have to resort to file footage! Serves them right for spreading terror. Down in south Fl. we called them The Terror Channel.

Linda, I think Ann is so right about them wanting to scare everyone to death, but it's good to be prepared just in case!

He said our rains last week flooded those washes with less then an inch of rain. Wrong, parts of Tucson had 2-3 inches, we even had 1.05. He said the bushes in our washes that were knocked over from the storm last week are Junipers. Not in our washes !!

He needs to get his facts straight!

That's what you find out when you watch them long enough. They really don't know what the heck they're doing & just trying to hype everything up. It got to where we would recognize file footage from a hurricane *somewhere else* in *some other year* that they had spliced in to make it APPEAR it was *this* hurricane *here* *now*. Shame, shame, shame on them!!!!!!

We are fine so far. The big rains are not to start till late tonight thru Thursday. So far only a bit over a .10 of rain. for asking.

Hope you are feeling better soon, Cindy.

We are about at normal temperatures for the time of year. More humid than usual from the moisture wending its way from Cabo San Lucas. No rain, just humid. After seeing photographs of what the hurricane did to the airport and such down there, I am quite content with just humidity.

Cindy, but very, very smart to get your flu shot. We always get ours in Oct. so that's just around the corner.
