I thought of Christmas Also when I saw Debra's Avatar. Hilarious!

Nice day, no humidity and not hot. Lots of private people fireworks going off last night but the public fireworks were postponed till tonight cause of the rain yesterday.

We are having a Florida kind of day here. Crying The temp is only 91 but the humidity is 36 and the Dew point is an astounding, for here, 61 so we are moist, moist, moist. It just kind of hurts to be outside. Sad Hilarious! The sun is finally out and it stings. Blinking

36% humidity is LOW for a Fl. day. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! The stinging sun is probably what I mean when I say the sun could rip the hide right off of you.

Poor thing got rained out didn't it?

My Better By Design had it's last bloom today. I have 4 fans & the FFO was on May 3rd, after those scapes finished blooming they went straight into rebloom so that's 2 full months of bloom for them. Not bad.

This was my 4th of July Celebration last Night. It was probably one of the worst 4th's that we experienced here in yrs. because of all the rain we had the night before. It just poured for 12 hrs. The sun never came out, and it was grey, overcast and and by nightfall, the temps dropped into the high 50's. Chilly. All that humidity of last week just faded away. By 9:30pm the skies had cleared. The ski resort put on its annual 4th of July fireworks show. This is what I saw from my deck overlooking the mountain. Looks like a gene-pool!! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Hilarious! I lost a lot of hide today, Ann ! Crying The humidity did not stay at 36 % as we were blessed this evening with another .25 of rain . Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I had just used most of the 64 gal. of water in my rain barrels from the other storm so that quarter inch almost filled them back up. Green Grin!

A beautiful day today. I hope tomorrow is the same. We have to go into town and get dirt. Never in the time we lived in Illinois, did I ever think I would be BUYING dirt! We had the most wonderful soil there, all you had to do was dig a hole, plop something in and it grew like mad. I will definitely be overdoing it outside next week, but it will be worth the aching muscles.
Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.

Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! Yep, dirt can be hard to come by. You have to do the same in Fl. too right? I know I do. Once I get some compost ripe (or right) but I don't think I can keep up with demand for homemade compost. So, for now, I have my own recipe I make up. A good potting soil, sand, pearlite, vermiculite & these days...alflafa meal.

@flaflwrgrl You're right. We have to buy dirt there, too. When we did our daylily bed in FL, we followed Dan Hansen's directions for daylilies: 1/3 garden soil, 1/3 black cow and 1/3 damp sphagnum moss. When it comes time to lift them and I dig down with the shovel, there is always compacted sand at the bottom, even though we (actually DH) dug holes 18" deep! Where did the good stuff go?

@rocklady
Jean, the good stuff went straight through the sand. Sand doesn't hold ANYTHING for very long. And it's really weird but sand can either be compacted so hard it's like concrete OR it's so loose you have to dig "speed holes" to keep it from collapsing in upon itself before you can get the plant in it.

@flaflwrgrl I suppose that is why daylilies keep pulling down and have to be raised every few years. Otherwise, they just disappear!

I think so Jean. I know amaryllis "sink" in the sand & have to be lifted every few years, I think the same applies to daylilys.

It's beautiful here today. Was out for awhile but 81 feels like 90 today. I sure am glad we have a breeze today. We could use some rain. The ground is dry. Rain is predicted for tomorrow so I hope we get it.

Southern Wisconsin got over 12 inches of rain in June, with rain on 20 of the 30 days. Right now, we did not get much of the overnight T-storms that were predicted - or they went around me.

My daylily seasons are all screwed up. I have Buttered Popcorn blooming - it's an ML. I also have some Mids and EE's blooming with FFO's over the past week.....

Temp should be in low 80's today, A/C is on only because I have a dog kenneled during the day. It will go off tonight- temps will be back to the low 70's again until later in the week. ~Jan
