Be sure to read up on how to treat that pod while it's on the stem, and what to do with it after it's ready to come off the stem, and how to proceed after that -- all to make sure that you get the seeds inside to grow roots and become Irises! Wow -- how exciting!! Green Grin!

You need to ask Brad and Paul -- both of whom are experienced hybridizers. They have great -- and successful -- techniques. nodding

It is a pod, but from the 'collapsed' form, may be empty.

I have a pod on an Honorabile that was alone, in the front of the house nearer a bunch of Fabians. The Fabians have huge pods. I will have to read too. If all else fails, just plant the seeds in the fall and mark them with a tomato cage.

Bee pods are the most apt to collapse, but may have seeds in those. Like all pods wait until they turn brown & start to open. Have been fooling with them since 1986--not always successfully.

I hate that the one I posted may be empty, I was all excited to have a seed pod.

Some of the pods that I harvested last year looked really huge, only to have 6 or 7 seeds in them, and others looks rather average size, and had 15 or 20 seeds in them. I've been frustrated by the number of pods that have rotted off right at the pod this summer. When I brought them in to dry out and mature, they have turned to mush. It happend to two of my pods in my "Pink Project" Oh well, there's always next year. One has about 2 inches of stem left on it, and it still seemed OK the last time I checked it.
