Maybe they mean as in "monstrose". I've seen a lot of monstrose cactus, but never a tree. I have seen crested plumies though.

That's going to one day make a huge tree IF you can leave it outside in the ground year-round.

The person who gifted it to me got it from Ampol...he's really good at grafting Plumerias!!
