A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

By SongofJoy

The Nature Conservancy calls Tennessee the most biologically rich of all the inland states. As I walk through my property and neighborhood, I see many exotic plants. Fortunately, I also see an abundance of native plants.

Tee, thank you for this wonderful article, Tennessee truly is a wonderful and diverse state! My husband and I love visiting the areas of the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee whenever the chance arises ... nature at it's best.

It truly is a beautiful day in the neighborhood of the state of Tennessee!

Thank you both for reading and commenting. I'm a forager and I do love the abundance of native flora and fauna here. It's very different from CA which was our home for decades. But it's also a beautiful place to live and garden. Smiling

Great article. Being a rock collector, I identified w/ the pic of the outcrop. About 75 miles away from my place one can find geodes (roundish rocks w/ crystals inside) in strata like that.

Thanks, j.

That's wonderful. I have not found any geodes here but I do have a few I found out west. And this beauty ...

My word, that's a real beauty, j. And huge! Do you have it on display somewhere?

The others I have are much smaller. And I have some polished slices we bought somewhere. I think it was at the LaBrea Tar Pits in CA. Either that or somewhere in northern CA.

This discussion prompted me to go look for the rest of my geodes and slices. So far, I'm coming up empty. But I'll find them eventually.

Thanks for the link.
