I am so impressed with how you repurposed what would have been "throw away" items. Not only is it functional, but you made it look just amazing! Thanks for sharing your idea.

Linda - Thank you for your compliment on my pallet project!

I am a gardener on a tight budget, so many things I see that might be tossed, could be and often are re-purposed in my garden. The mailbox had been hit by a construction truck (which bent it up). We replaced the mailbox right away and then later I was getting ready to throw the damaged one in the trash and I decided I would first try banging the dents out with a hammer so it would close. Much to my surprise ... it worked! So there was NO WAY I was going to throw away a perfectly good mailbox! LOL! And it just happened to be a large mailbox, so works great for hand tool storage. Now I don't have to walk all the way back to my screen porch, the garage, or my kitchen to get the tools I need at any given time, which saves me time! I find that I look at objects differently now that I spend so much time gardening! The question always is, "Can I re-purpose it and use it in my garden?" rather than send it to the landfill. Big Grin

I use a mailbox in my garden as well to hold my tools and supplies! It keeps me from walking all the way forward to the garage to get some thing when I see a weed or something that needs to be deadheaded.

I think as gardeners we are naturally inclined to try to "think green" and repurpose whatever we can. Your project was one of the best examples of this that I've seen!

I am a lover of herbs (my Master Gardeners group affectionately (I hope!) always refers to me as the "herb lady"). I grow all of my herbs in containers and am always looking for better solutions. I think your pallet containers fit that bill perfectly, and have the added benefit of repurposing materials. I think I now need to be on the lookout for some pallets in our area Thumbs up

Linda - Wishing you much success finding the right pallets and creating a vertical herb garden! Please post a photo once it is completed. I love it when someone likes my garden ideas so much that they use my idea in their own garden! That is the greatest compliment of all! I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up
