I have tried everything organically (or so I thought) to get rid of the dreaded Red Lily Beetle. I have used chemicals in the past that have worked fine but left me with a guilty conscience. What am I harming?

Funny, Greene! Back in the day when I had chickens, our cats (who were in/out and hunters) were terrified of them! From what I've heard, Guinea fowl are even better watchdogs (or would that be watchfowl?)

Interesting. I have never kept Guinea fowl but have been told that if I release Guinea fowl on my property I had better tell the neighbors because the birds have no respect for property lines. I know that Guinea's are excellent insect eaters but I didn't know they were such good watch....watch....watch-a-ma-call-its.

Nine chicks hatched in the small incubator in early February. My local gardening friends gave me a PVC chicken tractor (which will later be used to protect plants in the garden). The 9 chicks are happy on their first day out of the big brooder but the resident rooster...well, he's not very pleased with the new chicks and is quite vocal about it.
