This is what I've just started working on to plant in the fall... Do you have a new garden area you're planning? Some spiffy new raised beds? Or??

That's going to be nice, what are you going to have between them, grass? or pavers?

That will be beautiful Sherri. At our last home, we had a rose garden like that -- except instead of two halves, we had four quarters and the beyond that we had four more corner sections. It was gorgeous. We had a concrete garden *goddess* in the center, with roses around her. Wish we had digital cameras back in those days -- I never took too many pictures in the days of film and developing, etc.

Tom, I'll use decomposed granite for the pathways. It compacts down nicely and makes an even surface to walk on. I've used it throughout the garden.. I'd be lynched if I planted more lawn in our drought. The area is hard as a rock and I'd like to put some water on it so I can dig, and get it prepped.

I wanted to do a labyrinth, but didn't have room due to the slope. Cutting the area into quarters took away space for several plants, and I couldn't let that happen

Mary Ann.. going digital has pretty much rocked my world... I used to be so fearful of taking a bad shot and wasting film, that I just didn't.. But while digital is so much easier to share, I miss the actual photographs and putting them into albums. On the other hand, I guess they're safe from catastrophe being up in the "cloud".

They are safe if you make backups, but I still have some of them printed and put into albums, or I should say waiting to be put in albums!

Your garden is going to be so beautiful! I have never heard of the use of decomposed granite around here but it sounds great. I would love that for the walkway from my driveway to the front of the house. I will have to ask my landscaper friend if we have it around here.

Tom -- how do you go about getting your digitals printed?

You can just take your memory card to the photo processing place, and select the ones you want printed, or you can e-mail them to the processing place, or you can save them to a CD and take them to the processing place.

Leslie, Decomposed granite is kind of buckskin colored. Sometimes it's called "fines". Has a similar texture to running tracks. You may have crushed bluerock, which is grey, in your area... It's also nice, and looks better with pea gravel.

Beautiful, Sherry. I've done a pathway like that -- bricks on an angle with fines as a pathway -- you're right. It's a pain. But pretty!!
