By this I mean good combinations of daylilies and companion plants. I love to see these.

I believe there was a thread but not recently. May have been one last summer.

I found one called "Companion Plants" and posted to it so it will be up front.

Also, if you look over in the upper left of ATP's page, you see the big ATP logo. Just under that is a search area. Type in "daylily" and click the little magnifying glass to start the search. The first things to come up are the articles and tips that involve daylilies. If you look down through the list, there are quite a few that include photos of gardens and have other types of plants. You might get some good ideas there.

Forgot to add that Lilylady also posted some nice videos recently of AHS Convention Tour Gardens. Convention gardens are always inspiring.

Gerry, the 5th pic, what is the dl? and what is it panted with? is that a cabbage? I thought those only liked cool weather? That is a very pretty picture.

Yes, that is cabbage with Piping Rock. A few years ago I had red cabbage and a very large green cabbage growing near it. Neither was picked that summer. The following winter was mild and the cabbages did not die. The following summer they bloomed and I saved seeds from the white cabbage, and this is the resulting hybrid. It is gorgeous.

Love these companion plants! The tomatoes and red DLs would really go together well; the cabbage is beautiful with it. I have never mixed them with edibles, but why not?

Yes it is. You could just plant as a companion. I have done this with Tuscan Kale and Purple Fennel, now that I think of it! Also Purple mustard, although that one reseeded so plentifully that I think they have all been weeded out!

I wonder if planting the dl along with mints, sages or garlic would reduce the bugs?

Mints will reduce the bugs, Frilly, but I can tell you for sure to keep the mint potted. It spreads like wildfire, underground runners.

I wondered if those kind of plants put off some kind of oil ect that prohibits the growth of other plants kind of like walnuts do? I planted some artemisia once and the plants around it didn't seem to thrive after that. Maybe it was coincidence though.

Artemisia acts a little like mint with those underground runners. It might smother the root system of weaker plants. It hasn't hurt my daylilies or irises though.
