Deleted since it was a duplicate post.

I didn't take your question as pointing fingers, actually. You asked for details, so I gave as detailed of an explanation as I could. Shrug! I don't mind admitting when I make a mistake.

I agree It's an interesting look into how the whole "system" works. Smiling

Thanks to both Trish and Dave for doing all the work it takes to make ATP such a wonderful place!

Also thanks for explaining the process! I used to think that NONE of the older articles got acorns ... just because they used not to. But as it always seems to turn out ... reality is more complicated than any simple theory.

Ideas and articles have only been receiving acorns for just about a year, RIck, since about July 2013. Prior to that, acorns weren't given for them. That might be what was confusing to you, since no acorns show up on the old articles when they run now in the 'Random' area.

They were awarded privately prior to July 2013. We received acorns from admin and from other members in appreciation for the ideas, but it was done by means of private acorn messages, which aren't reflected in the acorn totals for the older ideas.

Ahh, thanks!

My theory is that if you look closely enough at almost anything, it becomes more complicated. But this might be a perverse theory.

Thanks for the clarification, Zuzu. I'm not sure I remember all that.

Edited to say Zu's right. I had to go back into my earliest messages and dig into my fatigued mind to put it all together.
It's been a long day.

To my knowledge, the only articles that did not receive acorns are those that were brought over from Cubits, and are thus older than ATP. Thumbs up

Right, and zuzu has it correctly that the acorns were given privately. Back then all acorn transactions were private. It wasn't until quite some time before added the public tips feature and even then it wasn't for a while after that when I made the acorn payout public through the tips.

That's it, Trish, thanks. That's what I was remembering, those brought over from Cubits.

Interesting to read about some of the inner workings of ATP and all the hard work that goes into making it such a wonderful place to visit. Thanks all!

I really like the public acorn feature. Thank you for it!
