Rita, to answer your question, I think we are too new to have yet been assigned a moderator. We have been having so much fun renewing old acquaintances since we were always all over ATP and had no "home" that I never gave that a thought. I am so glad you came in and I do hope you stay awhile.

I like the idea of a "local" forum. Just not so sure that being on Long Island that I am really Mid Atlantic. But was welcomed here so I will stick around. Always like to talk gardening!

Oh, I do want to add that I hope everyone does not now desert the Northeast Forum. I love the Northeast forum. We talk weather, we talk pets, we talk about our gardens.

No chance, just time we found those of us who were spread all over since we had no place to call our own.
Now if we can get them all together, when we have a question about our particular weather, etc. we do not have to go to several threads just to talk to a few....they will all hopefully be tuned in to this and have answers if we need them. It really is more convenient for those of us who need answers at times.

Love seeing your cutie again...give her a big wet one for Charle. He is sleeping and snoring as we speak.
Rita, it is wine time....hurry...get your glass...I am going to get mine now and start dinner for the kids. They have a meeting and both are still working. See you soon. Hugs.

You know, Teri, I was raised in a family where we had wine at our big meal every night. I have always kept that tradition and of course, there was Happy Hour when I worked, so now that I am retired, I figure instead of 5 o'clock somewhere, I made my wine time 4PM no matter where I am. I am not usually late, unless I am out in the field working and then I have to put it off until the work is done. When I was working for a living, I was a Martini girl (made with gin) but as my old body got less tolerant and I do not like NOT being in control, I changed to wine. Red wine.
Now you know all my secrets. I still love gin, but I just can not handle it with dignity anymore. Rolling on the floor laughing

My preferred drink was a Grey Goose Martini (vodka), but it's gotten to be a bit much for me. Once in a while, I might lighten it up by having a Cosmopolitan made with the vodka, splash of cranberry juice, fresh lime and a splash of selzer. Mostly I stick to wine. During all my young years my dad, uncles and grandfather made some really good wine. EVERYONE had at least a taste at dinner!!!

Mmmm, let me join you in that glass of wine--and maybe one of the tasty fruity summer drinks to go with it! Smiling

Teri, is drinking a PA thing, do you suppose? I was raised in Lancaster County prior to coming to NJ many years ago. Just kidding, I had a Spanish Grandmother who made her own, married to an Englishman, so I know where mine came from. nodding

I lived in Bergen County, NJ until 9 years ago. All my grandparents were Italian and wine was always on the table.

hi, everyone. I wanted to give an official welcome to the Midatlantic Gardening forum! @TypWC and I are the new co-moderators, and we are very excited to have a place for people in those 'in between states' (sort of northeast/sort of southeast but not quite either) to have a place to chat, plan swaps and other regional events, and share our love for gardening.

We're thinking of the Midatlantic area as including Maryland, Delaware, DC, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and parts of New York as people wish. We know that many people in these states have found homes on other forums, especially the Northeast forum, but hope that this forum will provide additional opportunities to build friendships without replacing any that already exist. Smiling

To introduce myself--I'm Catmint. I've lived in Maryland for 8 years now. Before that I lived in Connecticut for over 20 years, and before that I grew up sort of all over (my father was in the Air Force). I live with my daughter and 4 cats in a suburban neighborhood with a backyard bird feeder and some garden space. I especially enjoy gardening for the pollinators, cottage gardening, and gardening with native plants.

I hope you all will join us here as we share our love for gardening, and get to know one another better as fellow-Midatlantic gardeners! Smiling
