Not to put you on the spot Janet but I vote Yea! HOWEVER, I certainly understand if the timing is not right for you or if you'd like to wait a while & let the forum maintain itself as you say. But let it be known that my vote for now & forever is yea. Any time you're ready dear gel, anytime you're ready.

Most of us probably only want a general answer for the identity of our insects; good vs.bad, keep vs. kill, encourage vs. control, etc.
If we need to narrow it down to specifics, we could use the @ and send a shout-out for help?

Because Janet is such a busy person, perhaps we can think of her as the official 'on call only when needed moderator'. Shrug!
Don't think she needs to be the one to identify every item; we should be able to help each other with our experience and knowledge.

Thank you all for the votes of confidence, I have been in contact with Dave and he is happy to make me moderator, or to leave the forum without a moderator.

My thoughts are more to do with whether or not the forum needs a moderator, as I understand it the main powers a moderator has are to remove any unwanted posts such as spam, and to split a thread if someone posts a separate ID request on the same thread as a previous poster. That doesn't happen often, and if there is spam then I feel that Dave would prefer to know about it so he can deal with it appropriately.

Thus, the need for a moderator is, I feel, not sufficient to create the position. I think green has put it well, you all know you can call on me whenever you think I might be able to help, if someone isn't aware I can be called on there will always be someone else who is aware who can give me a call up.

I humbly bow out at this point in time, but expect to see me around. Smiling
