Sort of looks like a Dwarf youpon holly to me Lynn. Can you get a close up of the leaves?

I won't be able to get another photos until I go to Salem again.
I tried cropping to enlarge leaf detain. Still not very good.
The leaves don't match Yaupon Holly. The leaf edges are smooth.
I checked that one out Cheryl. Beautiful plant, but the leaves and growth habit don't appear to be the same, and the Mexican Heather isn't suppose to be completely harder in my zone 8.
This is a very tough shrub.
That is looking more like the shrub in question. Thank you Janet. I will go into Salem and get better photos for comparison.
When I think about the growth pattern these young plants are starting to exhibit it seems this might be a match.
Boy, you have good eyes Janet! I can't see any berries even after you pointed it out.

They sort of look like leaves that are browning at the tips to me. See below & to the right there is a leaf browning at the tip?

Notice in the photo in the link the 'cap' which must have been on top of a berry, you can see a ring near the top of another berry where there was a cap.
Name: greene Savannah, GA (Sunset 28) (Zone 8b) I have no use for internet bullies!
Just checking on this thread. Can you tell us where you saw these plants/shrubs? Were they in someones private garden or in the landscaping of a business property? If the latter, sometimes a phone call to the business to ask who did their landscaping may lead you to the answer.
Sunset Zone 28, AHS Heat Zone 9, USDA zone 8b~"Leaf of Faith"
It is new landscaping for the Cremains Memorial at OSH in Salem. I have to make an inventory of all the plants as a final report towards completely this project. I know all the plants except this one. It looks so familiar to me, but the door to that memory will not open.
Wish I would have thought about taking several close up photos.
The artist for the project are contacting the vendor because they didn't know name of many of the plants. I just need the name of the plant to complete the report. It will have to wait I guess.
