Meconopsis betonicifolia. Wow! Those are beautiful, Caroline. Must add that one. I have no blue poppies.

Himalayan blue poppy (Meconopsis betonicifolia)
I garden for the pollinators.

Beautiful. I think it's too hot here for those though. Glad to see them in your garden!

That's probably true but it wouldn't stop me from giving them a try. I'd be sad and "blue" if I didn't. Whistling Hilarious!

They might do in zone 7.
They grow on the B.C. coast.
I have them north of the house so shaded, and in a peaty (acidic) bed.
Watch out for slugs too.
Some say grow north of a deciduous tree or shrub.

Beautiful Caroline. Since most of us cannot grow them, we can admire yours!

Caroline that is gorgeous.

I tried them from a mail order and they did not live. I never tried from seeds. I saw them all over Alaska. I thought I could certainly grow them because we are not that hot here.

It is hard to get viable seeds.
Try buying a plant, and then save the seeds.

I planted two small plants in a semi shaded area and they just went downhill. Totally could. Not thrive in our hear even on north side of house. They are SO beautiful.

I have added peat to the soil near the house,
as soil near a concrete basement can be alkaline.
