That's a good question about composting. Looks like there may be some composting talk on the 'Tools and Stuff' forum. There's also a forum called Site Talk where you can make proposals. http://garden.org/forums/view/...

You're definitely welcome to talk about it here, although I'm sure you want to find a spot where lots of composting info is shared by people like yourself who are knowledgeable and experienced with it. Smiling

I think she should start her own thread here too and see how many people she finds who actually do compose. Just my thoughts, but it is a very interesting subject even if you do not do it. I find it so and I do not do it. Maybe she could teach us something about how to start it, etc.

I made a mistake, I think! I submitted it as an "Idea" -- meaning it as a suggestion for a new forum, but I guess that was the wrong avenue.

Woops.

I am trying to do too many things at once today, and I need to stop before I get into trouble. *Blush*

Not to worry, Kyla! They'll send it wherever it needs to go! :-)

To save time, though, you could also just go ahead and post it in the Site Forum. It's fine either way. Smiling

It's also fine to start a thread here. Others may join in here who wouldn't spend time at a forum devoted to the topic. But on the other hand, Kyla, I imagine you probably want fellow-experts to discuss it with. :-)

I watch the Gardening for Butterflies, Bees, and Birds forum, in addition to the Midatlantic forum, since it's a more specialized interest of mine. But I also enjoy posting my bee and butterfly photos here. I think sometimes we want different kinds of feedback/ support from a regional versus a more specialized forum.

I did hope the message I submitted to the wrong place would be re-routed, just a little embarrassed to have gotten caught speeding. Sticking tongue out

And sure, having a thread here about composting would be cool.

Honestly, this afternoon has had too many things in it! so I need to slow down and get my thoughts in order and my ducks in a row, before I do anything else!

(I am a moderator on another forum, not a gardening one, and I had a situation I had to get handled real quick in the middle of trying to talk composting here, and at home there were phone calls and cats in the midst of being fed or asking to be fed, so, I kinda tripped over my own feet. Or my own impatience. Rolling my eyes. )

Wow, sounds like a busy day, Kyla! Sometimes everything just seems to converge at once, doesn't it? Hope everything got straightened out okay with the other forum!

No worries about the other post. ;-)

Yeah it does that! I think things are straightened out. Along with all this my housemate was having a situation with some tenants at another house and asking me to take their call if one came in this evening while she is out, but I think that got handled too!

Now I just have to find Cat Three and feed her if she needs more since she ran off from the first feeding for reasons of her own, sigh.

Oh, I started the composting thread here in MAG. Green Grin!

My thanks to Dave! and glad of it since I didn't save a copy and didn't think I'd have the juice to rewrite it. Whew!

Cat Three has appeared and is presumably eating on the back porch, after having decided not to eat in the kitchen.

And even I am eating. I have some yellow squash given me by the veggie gardener across the back alley, sauted with onion and mushrooms.

nom.

yum, that squash sounds good!

We have a relatively new feral around here. Very thin. I left him some kibble on the back porch and he seems to have decided that area is now his.

Thumb of 2014-08-10/kylaluaz/7d1a14

The one I've referred to as Cat Three is on the left. Her name is Lily. Nab is the ragdoll flirt on the right; he's a youngster and has lots of energy. These two actually are my housemate/cousin's cats. My own cat, Kaly, is an old gal of 14, still spunky, but an indoor cat only. I don't have a good recent picture of her.

Thank you for taking care of ferals. And -- we're kind of wandering all over in this thread about dogwood leaves, aren't we? LOL!

Adorable! Thumbs up Smiling Are the 3 of them getting along okay?

I have cats, too (all indoors--at least my own cats are; the ferals are different, of course). Their photos are on our pet thread:
The thread "Midatlantic Pets" in Mid Atlantic Gardening forum

Please feel free to add to our collection of midatlantic pet photos and stories! As you'll read on our pet thread, we've already had a mishap with the laundry and a trip to the vet! Smiling

Hilarious!

I was looking at that thread a little bit earlier and saw the laundry incident. Green Grin!

I'll get into that thread too I expect but right now don't have good recent pix except that one and maybe two others my cousin took the other day.

I have issues getting photos from my camera onto this computer, and have not solved them yet. Sad

And... no, the cats don't really get along though it seems there is some progress. Nab is just too energetic and mischeivous. Lily was around and big already when he came as a kitten, so she is able to sort of push him off, plus he is relaxed with her. Kaly, he likes to chase. Kaly likes to fuss about the other two getting food. It's all weird cat politics, but fortunately the house is large enough that they can be separated if need be, and Kaly can always find sanctuary in my room.

It can be hard with adult cats who are put together for the first time. At least, like you said, Kaly has her own space--that helps a lot!

What's the issue with the photos on your camera?

I wish I knew! It isn't the camera, it's this computer which is Linux based, Ubuntu OS. (Long story why I have this.)

The photo app is just hard to use and I have never been able to figure out how to download photos.

I always have trouble with the downloading thing, too. I usually just email myself photos from my cellphone camera, then download them onto my laptop from my email account. Of course, if I have 400+ photos after a big trip, or if I use my point and shoot, then I have to hunt down the cable and do it that way.
